Pink Catawba

This sweet blush-hued wine starts as a pink grape, with a “slip-skin” – an easily removed skin that leaves the juicy pulp whole when removed.

Then it ends up a delight in your glass. Its aroma is sweet and fruity. After your first sip, the taste fills the front of your mouth with a light pink grapefruit tone, but without any bitterness. And the finish is smooth to the end.

The Catawba vine likes our hot, humid Western Pennsylvania summers and frigid winters. The grape is harvested later than its brother- and-sister grape varieties, giving the grape an extra richness that is easily found in its taste.

This is the wine to serve when the barbecue is hot. It goes well also with grilled pork or spicy, Cajun-style meals.
